Guided Dental Implants

Independence Dentist Providing Guided Dental Implants

Patients in need of tooth replacement have relied on Independence Family Dentistry for dental implants Northern Kentucky residents know are effective, expertly placed, and restorative. Always at the cutting edge of technology, Dr. Danny Nakhla and his team utilize 3D Galileos Cone Beam images to create surgical guides that make dental implant placement a snap.

A Safer, More Efficient Tooth-Replacement Option

Guided dental implant surgery is a state-of-the-art procedure that allows patients to receive a set of replacement teeth with a minimum amount of time spent in surgery. This unique implant technique uses the Galileos Cone Beam and computer modeling software to create a “guide” for the implant surgery, ensuring a more precise and efficient placement. It also allows for a more pleasant experience – shorter time at the dentist, minimal discomfort during recovery and an overall aesthetically pleasing and satisfactory result.

What to Expect

We start by taking 3D images of the mouth and jaw using the Galileos Cone Beam. This imaging technique allows us to examine both the superficial and underlying structures of the jaw area – areas that could once only be revealed via surgery, but are necessary to take into consideration when planning for and performing implant procedures.

After the images are taken, we make a virtual 3D model of the jaw. The 3D model will ultimately serve as the template for the implant guide that will be used during the surgery, as well as allow the dental laboratory to pre-manufacture a set of replacement teeth that will precisely fit the jaw. This model can be manipulated on the computer screen to identify prime implant placement locations with optimum accuracy. We can even virtually “perform” the procedure on the screen to more accurately visualize placement of dental implants Northern Kentucky residents can rely on for safe, effective tooth replacement.

After the guide and set of replacement teeth are created, the surgery is performed – typically under local anesthesia. During the procedure, the template we have produced is temporarily placed in position on the jaw, and the openings serve as precise guides for the accurate placement of the implants. The implants then fit seamlessly into the predetermined sites, and the replacement teeth are attached – all in a single visit.
