Eliminating Discomfort with Digital X-Rays

We Use the Safest Radiography Available in our Northern Kentucky Office

At Independence Family Dentistry, patient safety and comfort is of the utmost importance to us. That is why we use digital radiography to map your teeth and gums. Digital X-rays emit 80% less radiation than traditional radiography, making them the safest method for recording valuable oral health information.

To take digital X-rays, we gently place very small electronic receptors in your mouth. These sensors do not require you to bite down, eliminating most discomfort associated with conventional dental X-rays. The images can then be viewed on the computer, eliminating the need for chemical processing and special lightboxes to view your X-rays. We use this technology to acquire digital images of your teeth, gums, and jawbone.

Other advantages of digital X-rays include:

  • Increased comfort
  • Instant viewing via computer screen
  • Easy storage in electronic charts
  • Quick transfers to referring specialists.
  • Less time needed to take and view images
  • Convenient comparison to previous X-rays to map oral health

Digital radiography has a superior gray scale resolution, enhancing the contrast and density. The enhanced resolution of digital X-rays allows Dr. Nakhla to easily detect infections, gum disease, and tooth decay. With digital X-rays, Dr. Nakhla can manipulate the images by adding color, lightening or darkening, transposing, magnifying, reversing the gray-scale, and even making them into 3D models.
